An Evening with Tom and Rita at UCLA

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson lend a hand -- and their acting chops -- in support of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television with a presentation of the cheerful "You Can't Take It With You" at Royce Hall. Pal Nora Ephron -- she directed the husband-and-wife team in "Sleepless in Seattle" -- is helming this as well, and "a dozen talented actor friends" are promised to show up and join (we have a few guesses -- Rob Reiner? Billy Crystal? -- but whoever walks on stage, expect the names to be big league).

We adore Mr. Hanks and his talented wife, too, and the chance to see him live in a play, not yukking it up during an awards show at some podium (which is perfectly fun, too) but actually acting is a rare treat. His name has come up more frequently at recent parties we've been to, what with talk of a possible actors' strike, and it seems like a question on everyone's lips -- and definitely ours -- is, "but what does Tom think?" He's truly been a bright light in Hollywood, both for his comic abilities and wise counsel on matters behind the camera. We salute you, sir.
