PALM SPRINGS SOIREE: We never mind too much when a holiday is delayed slightly, and certainly when it has a good cause at heart. That's the case with Mardi Gras, which, of course, has now passed for 2011, but not at the Ace Palm Springs. The hotel is throwing a full-on Mardi Gras weekend from Friday, April 1 through Sunday, April 3, and revelry is not its only purpose. Rather, the hotel will be raising funds for the Preservation Hall Jazz Foundation, which is based in the Big Easy.
BIG EASY TIMES: Count on the weekend to summon the spirit of New Orleans, with an Ace-y twist; yep, there's a pool party, which is very Ace Hotel, but New Orleans soul will be on the soundtrack. And a masquerade ball Saturday night will lend the proceedings a Mardi-Gras-ish air (perhaps "Samedi Gras" is more appropriate).
