Art-Focused Studio Tour Covers Eagle Rock and Environs

You drive. You go. You look. You like.

You've probably driven by dozens of artists studios around Mount Washinton and Eagle Rock and Montecito Heights and Highland Park and Glassell Park, without even realizing that that one building is brimming with photography or easels or both.

On Sunday, Nov. 21 many people in cars will not be zooming by but stopping, walking inside, looking, and meeting the artists who work there, and sometimes live within the spaces, too. It's North by Northeast: The 18th Annual Discovery Tour, and it is a fine time to get to know the creative minds who work in an area of the city known for its rich creative output.

Oh, and look at this impressive number: More than 100 artists are scheduled to participate.

It's a tour-by-car, your car, so don't plan on the ton of walking some other art studio tours feature (well, you'll do some walking after parking and when heading into and around the studios, of course). The Arroyo Arts Collective, a group that deserves much of the thanks for making the hilly stretch of our city a nexus for creative vision, is behind the tour.

An advance ticket is $10; day-of, $15. Details on wheres/whens. Oh, and look at this: Galco's is selling tickets in advance. Get yours, then save a couple of bucks for a bottle of rose-flavored pop.
