LANCASTER, Calif. -- The body of a premature newborn was found Friday in the toilet of a home in Lancaster, a sheriff's deputy said.
The baby, which was believed to be at least two months premature, was found at 11:50 a.m. at the mother's parents' home in the 1300 block of East Avenue I, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Derrick Thompson.
The mother, whose name was not released, was feverish and delirious when authorities arrived, Thompson said. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Detectives were continuing to investigate.
