Oftentimes there's a "shucks" moment when you hear of a big crowd-pleaser of an event going down, an event that you can't make. The shucks-ing comes from the knowledge that once the event is over, it is over, and, oh well. You missed it.
That isn't exactly the case, thank goodness, with Barney's Beanery, and the West Hollywood restaurant's annual Chili Cook-Off. No, the firefighters cooking up the chili won't be hanging around past Saturday, April 30, nor will the live tunes or other festival-y additions.
But the nice part is the winning chili will appear on the Barney's Beanery menu for three months, so no shucks-ing over that. If you are able to make the afternoon party, note that it is free (meaning you won't have to pay a cent to get a barkful of Sparky the Fire Dog, or to hear music from The G's.
A chili-taster of a wristband, however, will cost ten bucks. And the beneficiary of the day? The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.
Note that this is the Barney's in West Hollywood, and the hours are from noon to 4 p.m.
