Bubbly, an Upside-Down Tree, and Va Va Voom

Nitery honcho Ivan Kane never scrimps on pleasurable excesses and fancy, old-school touches; so that New Year's Eve at his bistro-y Cafe Wa s is going to be a lush, lovely and libation-fueled bit of all right is to be expected.

What else can be expected? Burlesque, of course; Kane's Forty Deuce has become something of a feather-boa phenom on the nightlife circuit, and the saucy hip-dipping is part of the New Year's Eve festivities at the cafe. And then there's the gourmet prix fixe dinner menu (Lobster Potage and Coquille St. Jacque are savory choices), plus a champagne toast at midnight. And if sipping the bubbly makes you think you're seeing an upside-down Christmas tree dangling from the ceiling, your eyes do not deceive you. Raise your glass to a quirky feature in a stylish club.

Best of all, there are numerous seatings, which is always immensely helpful, and all too rare, on New Year's Eve; sometimes you want to just do as much as possible, and not be restricted to one party. So, come to the early one, enjoy, move onto your next commitment. Or vice versa. Or make reservations for both and double up on the delight.
