A bar isn't something one typically finds adjacent to blooms and trees and flowers.
It's a mash-up as rare as roses blooming in winter. But wait. This is Los Angeles, where roses *do* bloom in winter, so perhaps it isn't such the unlikely occurrence after all.
And lo, it isn't; Descanso Gardens, La Canada's pretty pastoral nook, is opening the Camellia Lounge on Thursday, June 24. Rather than the usual garden beverages -- say, lemonade or tea -- the Lounge will be pouring cocktails in addition to serving appetizers.
But, like a real camellia, the Camellia won't stay open forever. It is a summertime treat, open Tuesday-Thursday evenings, making it a perfect stop-by on the Summer Jazz Concert Series nights. You can find it in the Full Moon Tea House in Descanso's Japanese Garden area.
Admission to Descanso Gardens gets you into the Lounge gratis; sips/snacks are extra.
