Cannes Competition Announced

Did your film make it?

Scanning, scanning, scanning. Nope. Our movie didn't make the 63rd Cannes competition list.

Wait. We don't have a movie. But many people do, and, as in years past, many Angelenos are gearing up to jet to France for the prestigious May cinema spectacular.

Deadline.com published a full rundown. "Robin Hood" with Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett has been selected to open the festival; and the Oliver Stone "Wall Street" movie will have its debut.

Tim Burton, you might have heard already, is heading up the jury. Here is the perfect spot to mention that Mr. Burton's "Alice in Wonderland in 3D" is at the El Capitan for five more days. The Mad Hatter's chair is on display. The White Queen's seeing scope. And many other costumes and props. All soon to disappear from the theater, Chesire Cat-like; go see.

Cannes Film Festival is on from May 12-23, 2010.
