Canoodle in the Park: DWP Holiday Light Festival Opens

Venice Boardwalk, the Statue of Liberty and Christmas-y icons aplenty all done up in sparkling lights -- it's the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power's Annual Holiday Light Festival in Griffith Park. As in years past, the giant displays, which salute both local landmarks like the Hollywood Bowl and more general holiday themes, are dotted along a mile-long stretch of Crystal Springs Drive. The switch is flipped nightly from 5-10PM, and there are a variety of ways to venture through the wonderland: by foot is a popular way, or shuttle.

DWP is also going completely vehicle free from November 25 through December 7, meaning that dressing warm and hoofing it will be the way to go. The Festival opens back up to cars on December 8 (walkers are still welcome), and will be open to vehicles through December 30. Note that the special preview night on the 24th is reserved for bicyclists only.

Local lore says it is the perfect date night, and an ideal place for a quick proposal. So if you've been hemming and hawing, time to get off the fence and slip that ring in your pocket. Now, which display will you pop the question near?
