Capuano, Ramirez, Gonzalez Highlight Dodgers 3-1 Win

Dodgers' Capuano has two wins in five days

The Dodgers split their four-game series in San Diego on Sunday in a 3-1 victory. Chris Capuano pitched five scoreless innings, while Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez homered to earn the win.

Capuano's five innings pitched would not be too remarkable, except that he pitched on Wednesday in New York and started Sunday's game in San Diego on just three days rest and was on the Disabled List until the game on Wednesday too. He has tossed 11 scoreless innings, and given up just seven hits with nine strikeouts.

His return has helped to stabilize the starting rotation, but nobody expected him to come back this effective.

Capuano left the game tied at zero, and received a no-decision. The Dodgers did not score until the seventh inning when Juan Uribe doubled home Adrian Gonzalez.

In the last six games, Uribe is just 5-22, but at least he still has five RBI.

The Padres tied the game up in the seventh at one a piece with a solo home run by Carlos Quentin off the Dodgers' Moylan. Quentin had not played in a game since June 14th with shoulder soreness.

In the 9th inning the Dodgers came up with some clutch hits from the middle of the order when Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez hit back-to-back jacks to make the score 3-1. It was the Dodgers first back-to-back home runs of the season.

Kenley Jansen came in for the save and gave up one hit with two strikeouts.

The Dodgers return home to face the Giants for a three-game series. Hyun-Jin Ryu faces off Madison Bumgarner in the first game on Monday.
