Catch Rays at First Beachy Fest of Summer Season

When Fiesta Hermosa rolls back around, we know it is truly time to dig out the shorts and the tanks and the breezy eyelet sundresses. That's because this large Hermosa Beach-based festival is all about strolling, taking in sun, trying on hats and jewelry and just relaxing to tunes.

We don't want to call it your basic beachside party, because there's so much to it, but there's nothing wrong with a good basic beachside party in our opinion. But with a carnival just for the kidlets, a huge array of food offerings (we're craving fish tacos, fish tacos, and, might we add, fish tacos), and arts-and-crafts booth after arts-and-crafts booth, this festival is beachside party plus.

The fiesta's been around for 37 years, and is one of the best-loved and most-attended parties in the HB. (It also rolls every Labor Day Weekend, too.) Even if you can't find those flip-flops, we'd go salt-air sartorially. Translation? Something breezy to walk around in while nomming on fish tacos and modeling cool, crafty necklaces.

Note: There are shuttles, and a park & ride situation, so you'll want to read all about it before heading for Hermosa. May 23-25, downtown Hermosa Beach.
