Free Balloon Ride (No, Not That Balloon)

The Orange County Greak Park is offering free rides in its one of a kind balloon.

We all have that list of fun things we want to do, but just never get around to. Skydiving, world travel, finally figuring out how to program the DVR. But you might be able to cross one thing off your list- for free.

The Orange County Great Park is offering rides in its giant helium balloon free of charge in order to promote the expansion of the park.

Groups of between 20 and 30 visitors go up at a time, experiencing beautiful views of the surrounding landscape from a bird’s eye view of 500 feet.

If you’re afraid of heights, breathe. This balloon stays tethered to the ground the entire time (unlike other balloons you might recently have heard of), so there’s no fear of floating away. Just in case you were worried.

This is a unique experience because it is not a hot air balloon but a helium balloon, which is environmentally friendly, is non-polluting and is almost entirely silent. The balloon is the first of its kind in the United States and is one of the largest in the world.  .

Generally the best flying conditions are before 12 noon and after sunset. Get there early, rides are given on a first come, first served basis.
