Curbed Reader Comment Round Up: Election Edition

The best posts usually originate in our comments. To give appreciation to our amazing (and sometimes angry) commenters we feature their broad strokes of wisdom in a tidy comment roundup.

1) Prop 8 Protest Shuts Down Some Westside Streets "You are hysterical if you think sitting in traffic is even the smallest bit comparable to having your civil rights put to a popular vote, and then taken away. Go ahead and vote against us because you were slightly inconvenienced. You'll quickly regret that decision when things get violent, which they will if this bigotry continues. As the signs said, No More Mr. Nice Gay. We're about to get Malcolm X on your asses."

2) Mayor Villaraigosa Goes to D.C. "With a nod from Barack Obama, it seems more likely that Antonio Villaraigosa will be well-positioned to run for Governor, especially as Obama must not have been too happy with all that "skinny man" talk from Arnold at that ill-advised McCain rally. If Villaraigosa leaves LA, the best new mayor would be someone who understands the value of neighborhoods and lifestyle, not the "Gap on every corner" sensibility of Rick Caruso. That someone should be Eric Garcetti."

3) Measure R: Now What? "Also --- this thing passed with 67% of the vote. You don't get 67% of the vote by only appealing to hipsters who moved out here three years ago to attend FIDM. This passed because a LOT of people from a LOT of demographics from many different parts of the county thought it was a good idea." For more stories from Curbed LA, go to
