CurbedWire: Johnson Fain Layoffs, Sunset and Vine's Party in the Front

DOWNTOWN: This news isn't surprising given market conditions: A press representative for architecture firm Johnson Fain confirms recent layoffs occurred at the firm. "Johnson Fain laid off six architects primarily because a very large project was halted due to difficulty in securing construction financing – a fate of many projects these days. " Hmm, which project was halted? Johnson Fain did that lovely new lobby at 5900 Wilshire, and is working on Dodger Stadium, that downtown shiny tower/condo on Spring St. (pictured), and numerous overseas projects. The firm is also behind numerous Hollywood projects. [Curbed Staff]

HOLLYWOOD:
A month and a half ago, photos of new construction at the base of the tipsy Sunset and Vine apartment tower emerged. Everyone joked/worried it'd be one of those Jamba Juice-Quiznos-UPS store trifectas, but still no word! Calls to developer CIM and architect Kanner go unanswered. Latest photo of the construction after the jump. [Curbed Staff]
