CurbedWire: Measure R Rally at Westwood and Wilshire, Voter Weirdness, Call for Public Art Consultants

WESTWOOD: Here's a shot of that rally for Measure R that's currently underway at the corner of Wilshire and Westwood during rush hour. Editor Neal, who took the photo, reports: "Small turnout, but many supportive beeps. An old crazy man screamed at the nice rally guys, saying Measure R was a tax scheme and that LA should impose London-style congestion pricing. Of course, London has more of an alternative to driving than LA does." [Curbed Staff]

LOS ANGELES
: Speaking of voting. A friend is suspicious! She writes: "My boyfriend and I just got these "voter guides" in the mail today. His says "independent voter guide" and mine says "voter guide for democrats". Both definitely push a conservative agenda. We are thinking that all sorts of older people/non english speakers are probably getting these in the mail and are not realizing what they say and might just vote along the lines they are being told by these mailers. it's being put out by a company called California Voter Guide." Hmm.

DOWNTOWN: A call for anyone who wants to be involved in the art that goes up around the city. Lordy knows some new stuff is needed. Via the InBox: "The Cultural Arts Department for the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles is issuing an RFQ to establish a pre-qualified pool of art consultants to assist in project management for upcoming CRA/LA commissioned public art projects. They want to reach as broad an audience as possible, so we thought some of you might have arts and artist contacts who may be interested..." Interested parties should head to the CRA's web site.
