LA HABRA - An Orange County law enforcement officer responding to a report of a possibly suicidal woman in La Habra today fatally shot the woman when she apparently brandished a handgun.
The shooting in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street occurred about 10:15p.m. Monday, but authorities made few facts about the shooting available.
Someone called 911, and sheriff's deputies and La Habra police went to the address, according to sheriff's deputies. In a statement from the OC Sheriff's Department, a spokesman said, "Minutes after their arrival, the female confronted the officers with a
weapon and an officer-involved shooting occurred."
It was unclear who opened fire. The woman's name was withheld.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office sent an investigator to the scene, as is routine in officer-involved shootings.
