Disney Food Fest on Hold (for Now)

The springtime soiree makes way for park renovations.

Ask any kid when is the perfect time to go to the Disneyland Resort, and they'll likely look at their watch -- or wait, cell, rather, right? -- and say, "well, right now."

Ask any adult about the perfect time, and their answer would very likely be predicated on two things: One, when their own children's schedules allowed a visit. And two, when the Disney's California Food & Wine Festival was going on at Disney's California Adventure.

Okay, and three: "well, right now." You know adults like this. Many of us are such adults, and proudly so.

Now news has come from the Disneyland Resort that the springtime Food & Wine Festival, which regularly attracts big-name chefs and food-world stars, has been put on hold to make way and room and time for the many renovations in the works at California Adventure. If you've been following what's happening at the theme park, you know that much of it is being re-envisioned as Los Angeles of the '20s, the era when Walt Disney first set his dream-filled suitcase down on California soil.

We need a dream-filled suitcase. We all do.

The hold on the Food & Wine Festival will last through 2011 and 2012, says the Disney Parks Blog. After the much-anticipated Cars Land toot-toots into 2012, the parks will then "...continue to look for opportunities for special events and festivals."

Of course, we'll still get our wine and food at places like Napa Rose and Steakhouse 55, which are very much staying put near the parks.
