DocuDay LA

Catch all the Oscar-nominated documentaries over a single day.

You know how sometimes you're watching the Oscars and a film is mentioned and you think, "yeah, hmm. Saw that about a year ago and don't remember too much. Wish I'd seen it more recently."

That experience will be very much avoided if you buy a ticket to DocuDay LA. The mega-movie-thon, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, will screen all the Oscar-nominated documentaries. Meaning that during the Academy Awards, which roll on Sunday, Feb. 26? You'll be fresh.

And the best bit? If the filmmaker is in town and around, there will be a Q&A. That is Oscar Weekend gold right there.

A bevy of interesting works is on the packed schedule. "God Is Bigger Than Elvis," about Dolores Hart (she acted with the King and then left Tinseltown to become a Benedictine nun) is on the roster. The dance-tastic "Pina" from Wim Wenders will screen as well, and "The Barber of Birmingham: Foot Soldier of the Civil Rights Movement" about Mr. James Armstrong is playing too.

It's happening at the Writers Guild theater in Beverly Hills. Homegirl Cafe'll be the concessionaire. A pass to all the screenings is $60 plus a fee.

It's worth mentioning as well that Feb. 25 is day two of the mega Best Picture nominee showings at various AMC theaters. In some theaters all nine films will screen. Oscar. Weekend. Gold.
