EaterTastings: Meet XIV, Everybody Loves Palate, Hollywood Shutters, LA Food Show

The latest dish from Eater LA, Curbed's hedonistic eating and drinking blog...

WEST HOLLYWOOD: It's Sam Nazarian's latest and it's just weeks away from opening. Here's your rendering and some idea of what SBE and Michael Mina's new XIV will look like. And hey, it's a project designed by Philippe Starck. Full tour here.

GLENDALE: It seems everyone loves Octavio Beccera's Palate Food + Wine. First LA Weekly's Jonathan Gold gives a glowing review (we're with him on the mackerel) then Esquire picks it as one of the year's best restaurants.

HOLLYWOOD: It didn't look promising when Charcoal, right next to the Arclight and Amoeba, was advertising $15 steak dinners and football specials. Now word comes the restaurant is closed. After nearby Goa closing in August, that's strike two for owner Adolfo Suaya. Let's hope his upcoming Bar DeLuxe doesn't suffer the same fate.

BEVERLY HILLS: Eater has been following the progress of the unfortunately named LA Food Show for a while now. After a projected opening in early 2008, Eater is predicting an actual opening date of Oct 23rd for the new project by the founders of California Pizza Kitchen.
