IX tapa, Lemonade, Lazy Ox, and MORE!

PASADENA— Taking over the former space of Fred’s Cantina comes IX tapa Cantina, a new Mexican eatery/lounge from owner Jack Huang (Bar Celona, Villa Sorriso). Grub Street rejoiced to discover a "non-chain, non-frat" spot was moving in, and diners-to-be can expect tons of booze, a dance floor, and live performances coming this fall. [EaterWire]

VENICE— Lemonade is now moments from opening, and the "new school cafeteria" is just finishing up some final touches. Expect 12 varieties of freshly flavored squeezed lemonade and 35 different menu items from salad to pasta to protein. Also, catch the Lemonade Girl this weekend again squeezing on Abbott Kinney tomorrow from 1-4p. [EaterWire]

CONTESTWIRE— Thanks to all that sent in (some hilarious) Julia Child lookalike photos for the upcoming Julie & Julia ticket giveaway. The contest will run through the end of next week so send all entries this way. [ContestWire]

LITTLE TOKYO— Yet another opening slated for the fall is Lazy Ox, an "innovative neighborhood canteen" from owner Michael Cardenas (Boa, Katana, Sushi Roku) and chef Josef Centeno (Meson G, Opus, Lot 1). The 60-seater will open on San Pedro Avenue between 2nd and 3rd streets featuring affordable Mediterranean-fusion fare. [DD]
