EaterWire: Karma Coffee Closed, Katsuya Taking Tama Sushi, Culinary Historians at the Library

HOLLYWOOD: Did we say Karma Coffeehouse isn't going anywhere soon? Wrong. The java joint on the corner of Cahuenga and Selma officially closed today so construction for a still unnamed (though we think it might be something beer-y) burger joint can begin. [EaterWire]

STUDIO CITY: There is a change of ownership signage hanging on Tama Sushi, Katsu Michite's original spot on sushi row. Maybe now that he has "his new baby" in Beverly Hills, it's time to move on. New names on the pending license: Several Uechies, as in Katsuya Uechi. There's already Katsu-ya sushi in the 'hood...could it be another izakaya? [EaterWire]

TALKS: Charles Perry talks about the health-food movement, ethnic culinary influences, and LA’s culinary history at "Dining in Los Angeles: 1903" the Central Library on Saturday. Plus they’ll have snacks! (10:30am; 630 W. 5th St.) [LAT]
