Westside Tavern Sets a Date, Bar Food Coming to Wilshire

WEST LA—We've probably received more queries about Westside Tavern than any other upcoming establishment in the last few weeks, and according to Food GPS, the long-awaited (and expansive) project just might have set a date: "Former Whist and Saddle Peak Lodge chef Warren Schwartz plans to open Westside Tavern at the Westside Pavilion on March 24 ...The tavern will occupy 10,400 square feet and host 300 seats." WEST LA—Zu Robata just shuttered last week, but already a tipster reports that the Wilshire Blvd space has been swooped up by someone: "Walked by this place yesterday and there's a new banner sign already up with the name 'Bar*Food.'" Anyone with further info, drop us a line. [EaterWire]

SANTA MONICA—Another opening to add to this week's growing pile: Rockenwagner, an "authentic German sausage counter" just off the promenade. It's a bakery/cafe with a menu highlighted by five homemade sausage varieties. 311 Arizona Avenue; (310) 394-4267; website [EaterWire]
