Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa will host the afternoon auction, which is scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m.

The large-scale sculptures were created by "local and international artists" as well as people like comedian Lily Tomlin and dog whisperer Caesar Milan.

Proceeds from the auction of select elephants from the photograph-ready herd will help the Asian Elephant Foundation.

The beach-close placement has attracted many admirers, as well as shutterbugs aplenty. The sculptures arrived in late August.

Tickets to the Nov. 17 auction at the Laguna Cliffs are $175 per person.

Can't make the auction? A community goodbye is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15 and a closing ceremony is set for Saturday, Nov. 16.
