Fall Tracking: LA Food Show

With so many new restaurants readying for fall debuts, we're here to keep you updated on the important projects and when it's time to make those ressies.

Initial projection: "Early 2008"
Current projection: October 23

The plywood is down from LA Food Show on Beverly Drive (the former RJ's), and the windows are plastered with "Training in Progress" signs. And indeed it is: The place was filled with kitchen staff learning the ropes in the large exhibition kitchen and what looked like many managers running around the other day. This is the second LAFS outpost for Larry Flax and Rick Rosenfield, who founded California Pizza Kitchen, so you get what the vibe will be. They claim "LA Food Show is our way of exploring the sensory universe that is Los Angeles," so expect burgers to Szechwan noodles and "everything in between." We noted a bar and some nice patio seating. This might not be on the same importance scale as, say, Bouchon, but this might be the next pet project for Flax and Rosenfield to take across the land, a la CPK. Signs posted say October 23 is the big debut.
