Fall Tracking: Provecho

With so many new restaurants readying for fall debuts, we're here to keep you updated on the important projects. Thus, the Fall Tracking Report.

Inital target: Mid-May
Current target: October

Gabe Morales' Provecho on the ground floor of the 800 Wilshire building is definitely coming along. When we first talked to the chef (Polo Lounge, Fenix, Boa, Republic/Romanov), he explained the concept as modern Mexican with an extensive tequila selection, a concept that "has been burning inside" him for awhile. We had a sneak peek at some of the menu at a cocktail party several weeks ago---tasty. He initially hoped to open by May, then August. It's difficult to see inside at this juncture---thus the colorful signs that Downtowners have had to look at for the last few months---but peeking through a few gaps in the black window covering revealed chartreuse-ish green walls inside, dangling light fixtures, progress. It's a nice space, appropriate for the cocktails and lobster rellenos to come. There's a help wanted sign on the door, so it must be close: We're told they're shooting for the first week of October.
