“Ferris Bueller” Times Three

Jipsy Castillo

Maybe it is a cosmic event. Or maybe it is just because everyone needs a dose of "Ferris"-y fun to bid adieu to the summer. But three separate SoCal locations happen to be screening the 23-year-old flick "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" over Labor Day Weekend.

Guess, after nearly a quarter century, we're still saying "danke schoen" to this classic.

Here goes: "Ferris" pulls his bright red Ferrari 250GT -- sorry, Cameron's father's bright red Ferrari 250GT -- into the Art Theatre of Long Beach on Friday, September 4th at 11:55PM. So, essentially, it is the midnight show. And when we say Ferris pulls in, we mean on screen, of course. Duh! We mean "duh" nicely. In fact, we take it back.

The New Beverly has "Ferris" along with "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" on September 4th and 5th; the showing is part of the theater's John Hughes Tribute. The Broderickian escapade screens first, but check out all the showtimes. Thought: Why not dress up? We saw a guy dressed as Ash at last weekend's "Evil Dead"-a-thon. Respect.

Also paying tribute to the visionary who brought us Sloane and Cameron and Mr. Rooney is Cinespia. "Ferris Bueller Day's Off" screens on Sunday, September 6th at Hollywood Forever. Time: 8PM. There will be DJing before and after the flick.

Will you see it three times at three locations? Can you afford to miss this rare opportunity?

Save Ferris!
