7,000 Free Lunches Offered Through Parks and Recreation Program

The lunches will be distributed at county parks and other sites this summer

Starting Monday, the county Department of Parks and  Recreation will  provide about 7,000 free lunches daily to children from low-income families.

The lunches, funded by the state Department of Education and U.S.  Department of Agriculture, will be handed out at 47 county parks and six other  sites this summer.

On weekdays through Aug. 17, lunches will be served from 11 a.m. until 1  p.m., and snacks will be made available between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Children up to 18 years old are eligible. Parents who want to enroll  their children should call 310-965-8630.
