An Anaheim man is charged with showing gang hand signs in front of Santa Claus.
Orange County prosecutors said 18-year-old Uriel Oliva violated a gang injunction order when he met four other gang members at a mall and posed in a photo with Santa. Oliva has been charged with three misdemeanors for gang association, using hand signs and wearing gang clothing inside a safety zone in Orange.
Authorities said the safety zone was designed to restrict gang members from intimidating or harassing others.
Authorities said on December 16, Oliva met other known gang members at the Village Mall, violating a court order that makes it illegal for criminal street gangs to sit, stand, or even gather together within the 1.4 square mile zone.
Oliva is being held on $15,000 bail. He faces 18 months in jail, and has been placed on an immigration hold.
