A handful of retail spaces came up for rent this summer on Sunset Boulevard between Logan St. and Lemoyne Ave, and Lemoyne Ave. and Glendale Blvd, the openings signaling the change in this pocket of Echo Park. While not all the newcomers to the area are working out (restaurant 15, located down the street, hasn't exactly been drawing the crowds), more stores are on their way. (Gentrifyers, please don't take out clothing store Fashions of Echo Park. Best store ever.)
1.) 1700 Sunset: There are numerous retail spaces available at the under-renovation Jensen's space. One retail space has been rented by an "athletic-related" company, according to the leasing agent, who declined to name the retailer. The apartments upstairs remain.
2.) 1710 Sunset: There's a sign hanging that says: "Available space for lease."
3.) 1716 Sunset: Stories, a used bookstore/cafe, is opening in early November. The interior was done by Silver Lake architecture firm (and friend of Curbed) Ripple Design.
4.) 1724 Sunset: Used clothing store "Out of the Closet" has moved in; store looks like it'll open any day now.
5.) 1814 Sunset: NY pizza company Two Boots Pizza opening in November.
6.) 1816 Sunset: At least one and possibly two spaces next to Two Boots are available for rent. Loopnet describes the property this way: "Share 2 new ADA bathrooms with Two Boots (real new york) Pizza restaurant being constructed next door. 20' ceilings. Sky lights / Loft / mezzanine easy to add. Great location for espresso bar."
7.) 1801 Sunset (across street). Long time tenant Par Paint has moved. We are uncertain what's coming in, but new bar El Prado is located next door. Per a salesman, Par Paint was paying $6,800 a month in rent, but he didn't know what the new tenant will pay.
