Ghosty Video Fills Us With LAPL Love

A new "Ghostbusters" spoof makes us give our library props.

It's the video that's viral-ling it up all around Online City at the moment.

It's the "Ghostbusters" spoof filmed inside the beautiful New York Public Library. The players? Improv Everywhere. The aim? To call attention to the library's Don't Close the Book call to action. Perhaps you've heard that, like so many libraries, NYPL is facing major budget cuts.

The video and its improvians got us thinking. We don't need a restaging of "Ghostbusters" at the Los Angeles Public Library, although, we would like to point out, in a voice filled with local pride, that the stacks scenes in the famous film were filmed not in New York but here.

But is there another way to stir up the viral love online? So many comedians about town. People who could help with the Save the LA Public Library campaign.

New York Public Library, you're one of a kind. Hope you don't mind that we want to share a bit of "Ghostbusters" cred with you, and that we also desire a lively video that can attract eyeballs that belong to people who can help raise funds for our own LAPL.

Check out the video at the New York Times.
