Glendale Cruise Night

Over 400 cars'll be lining up along Brand.

If we told you that a whole bunch of cars would be nearly bumper-to-bumper, all along one stretch, on Saturday, July 16, would you assume we were talking about some street that's adjacent to the soon-to-be-shut-down 405 freeway?

You might, and understandably so. But the bumper-to-bumpering we're refering to here is actually happening in far-off (relatively speaking) Glendale, where loads of vintage and classic beauties'll be participating in the annual Glendale Cruise Night.

It's a popular event -- about 50,000 people show -- thanks to the 450 or so cars that get the spotlight. If a vehicle is vintage or gorgeous or covered in chrome-y details or all of the above, bet it'll make a cameo.

Also making a cameo? Paul Revere and the Raiders. There are a few other tribute-good bands playing away the street-fair-ish evening.

What we're loving most, this year, which is year eighteen for the Cruise Night, is that on the very weekend locals are stressing about cars and getting about, there's a major event focused solely on cars. You can take the 405 out of LA, but you can't take the auto love out of the Angeleno.

The party starts at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. Make for Brand Boulevard in the heart of Glendale and you're there.
