A little word can say a lot.
The Autry is calling its Goodwill Goes Hollywood fashion show event a luncheon. "Luncheon" isn't an oft-heard word these days, which is unfortunate. For it speaks of old-school glamor, and hats, and little, crustless sandwiches and such.
So it is the perfect term to use for the Monday, May 16 to-do, which is spotlighting Goodwill-found clothes that summon the vibe of the 1929 Academy Awards. The togs to be worn in the Autry fashion show will hail from the thrift chain's authentic vintage collection, meaning they'll likely be highly baubled and sequined and festooned.
Honest? If you're at a luncheon, instead of a lunch? You want baubles and sequins and festoon-y things.
There are other elements to the frou-frou day, including a silent auction and raffle. Cost is $95, and the hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you'd like to attend, note that reservations will be open through the end of the day on Friday, May 13.
