Happy 30th, Sunset Junction

The mega music street fair marks three decades.

Thirtieth birthdays don't get too much play in popular culture -- okay, we're not looking at you, "Logan's Run" -- which is unfortunate, really. You've just wrapped three decades covering three distinct stages -- childhood, adolescence, early adulthood -- and you're easing into the ride into the Rest of Your Life.

Sunset Junction is doing that easing in at the moment, and we suspect it'll be doing it very well, given the Junction's live-and-let-live vibe and easy-going neighborhoodiness. It's turning 30, and the always huge, always local-filled, always music-filled street fair will celebrate that fact on Saturday, Aug. 21 and Sunday, Aug. 22.

The 2010 fair features include a "locals' only" stage; a laser light show during the Ghostland Observatory set; non-stop music from all corners of the city; and all sorts of boothery involving all sorts of bites from various Silver Lakeian purveyors. (The last two have been touchstones of the fair every year, we'll add.)

Tickets are $15 each day; get info on how to order/where to get.
