In L.A. We Trust

Imagine a $1 bill with Mayor Villaraigosa's face, a $10 bill with Eric Garcetti's mug.  It could happen if Los Angeles follows the trend of some neighborhoods in the Midwest.

David Markland writes at LA.Metblogs that a couple of Milwaukee neighborhoods are resorting to printing their own currency to try to to boost local revenues.

"The money being valued 10 percent more than the US dollar. They say its legal, and as someone who’s been suckered into buying Disney Dollars, who am I to argue?  But it made me wonder - would this sort of concept fly anywhere in L.A.? Larchmont Village perhaps, or the Sunset Strip?"
