It's BritWeek in LA (Though It's More Like Brit Fortnight)

A factoid we often hear bandied about, though never confirmed, is that LA -- Santa Monica, specifically -- is home to the largest grouping of British people outside the UK. We definitely know a lot of Brits are here for the biz, and every time we drive by the BAFTA office in West Hollywood we get a special thrill. Because we are tea-drinking, royals-following, Kate Nash- and Keane- and XTC-worshipping Anglophiles. We even like the royal "we," clearly.

So when BritWeek comes to LA in the spring -- this year it is April 21-May 7 -- we give a rousing cheer. The multi-day spectacular, which puts the focus on all things UK-ish, boasts events aplenty: Beatles tribute bands and feature films and a pub-based darts tourney and BritNight with the LA Galaxy and car shows. And lots and lots of musicale performances at locations around town, from Spaceland to the Wiltern. Eye the full calendar for your perfect go-out.

Now, if only we had a jacket potato smothered in HP and beans we'd be fully satisfied. Along with room-temp lager with a nice, foamy head. Britain, our Anglophile-y heart is yours.
