The family killed in Monday's jet plane crash had moved into their San Diego home two weeks ago. According to friends, the Yoons needed a bigger home for their growing family. Baby Rachel was born two months ago. It was a move made possible by Dong Yoon's sister who had lived in the home previously. Yoon's sister and her husband moved to Chula Vista.
"They were working towards a better life, living the American dream," said Rev. Daniel Shin of the Korean United Methodist Church.
Shin says Dong came to the United States and became a naturalized citizen in 1989. His wife, 36-year old Young had just received her nursing degree. The couple had another daughter, 15-month-old Grace Yoon.
Authorities are still searching for the older daughter in the rubble of what was their home on Cather Street.
Church officials say they will hold a prayer service for Dong Yoon on Wednesday night.
"He needs us for support right now. He's in denial and not accepting what happened yesterday," Shin said.
