Johnny Cash Music Festival

TUNES AND WHEELS: The top three singers and acts listed on the Johnny Cash Music Festival page come at you like three fizzy bursts of a Fourth of July firecracker. Kris Kristofferson is the headliner, and then you have The Blasters, and then Mr. Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats. So if you're guessing that the Saturday, June 18 festival will be full of good feeling and twangy cheek and a bit of rippy guitar and a bit of strummy guitar, you would be totally right. You'd be also totally right if you guessed there might be a Betty Page lookalike or two at the Roadside Revival-produced fest, seeing as how there's an old-school pin-up contest.

AND MR. CASH? The spirit of the country legend's sound will certainly infuse the day. Johnny Cash's daughter Cindy will also head up a memorabilia auction. And if you don't feel like bidding, there will be plenty of custom, snazzed-out vehicles dotting the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Strolling and admiring is part of the party. Which of course means there will be ocean breezes to keep you well cooled. Put that over-sized flower in your hair or don your Cash-esque black suit and get tickets now. Note that this is the day before Father's Day, if Dad is a Cash and car man. Yes, he is? Thought so.
