Kicky Eats and High Kicks

Samba opens at Universal CityWalk

The kabobs, the churrasco, the delicious, oh-so-sippable Caipirinha.

Try several variations on the Caipirinha, the national drink of Brazil. Samba Brazilian Steakhouse and Lounge, which opens on Universal CityWalk on Wednesday, November 4th, will be mixing up well over a dozen variations on this refreshing beverage, including a jalapeno-meets-cucumber and -- wait for it -- Caipiroska Bubble Gum.

There will be plenty of shaker-based activity going on inside the eatery at the big opening night, and loads of entertainment just outside. A Capoeria champ will go for a "kick to the moon" record, and some 40 dancers in full costumes will be parading through CityWalk. The music-filled strut starts at 6:30PM, and the kicks, or "chute na la," is set to go around 7PM.

We want to see the dancers, and the kicking to the moon, and we are very much craving Samba's take on Farfoa, a dish that has butter, bacon, and salt as three of its main components (plus yucca flour).

Butter, bacon, salt. Feathers and costume. Martial arts, and marinated meats and sausages on skewers. Plus, that jalapeno-cucumber Caipirinha. Are we all clearing our Wednesday night skeds and making for Universal City?

Please note: While the dancing and martial-arts performance will take place on CityWalk and is open to the general public, Samba is having a private party on November 4th, and will officially be open to the public starting on the evening of November 5th.
