SO, THERE YOU WERE, simply celebrating Halfoween, which falls around May 1, which is six months out from Halloween proper (that's where the "half" in Halfoween hails from). Whatever you took part in, the watching of a fright film, some potential costume sketching, the devouring of miniature chocolate bars, you surely couldn't have dreamed that one of the first chilly fingers of Halloween would reach out to tap you on the shoulder. Not at the beginning of May. Not with the jacaranda trees and roses in bloom. And yet, that's exactly what happened, at least over on the social media for Knott's Scary Farm. The yearly Buena Park-based horror spectacular, which includes a host of mazes and eerie actors, posted a "We're Hiring" message, leading people to ponder if Halloween is really all that faraway after all. And, lest you think they're already searching for performers, well.. not yet. Hold onto your broomsticks for that one, as auditions traditionally happen later in the summer. Rather, the call went out for...

THE BUILD TEAM, meaning scenic painters and scenic carpenters and props technicians and all of the talented people who make all of those twisty, turny mazes so goosebump-inducing. If you have skills to provide, and you can't wait to get a jump on the hauntingest time of year, consider giving the Knott's Scary Team a shout. If this isn't your wheelhouse, but you are interested in serving as a ghoulish performer, or simply attending when it opens around the end of September or beginning of October, well, that's a big ol' stay tuned. But you won't need to stay tuned for long; as we've seen, Halloween has a way of whooshing in, like a blast of freezing air, when we're not even looking for it.
