We recently visited the new, hands-on Franz West show at LACMA and found ourselves pushing a large, dangling cube-y thing back and forth with a friend. Back and forth, back and forth. If you've been there, you know the one. Mesmerizing.
Cube pushing is a contemplative activity a deux that likely only becomes more mesmerizing the nearer-to-midnight the hours grow (we were there in the early afternoon and were fairly riveted; midnight might blow our minds). Interesting, then, that the Franz West exhibit, and that cube, are all part of the late-night LACMA party on Saturday, April 4. Keeping in the theme of the Art of Two Germanys show, LACMA will have Berlin-based DJs spinning, as well as sausages and Germans ales (a hearty "wunderbar" to that). There will also be a dramatic reading or two, and of course, some gallery hopping and gazing upon paintings, sculptures, the stars above and other mingling, cube-obsessed party goers.
Living it up late, with art and fabulous people, on the Miracle Mile is definitely a special LA treat. Throw in an interactive exhibit and sausage and we say fantastisch.
