Sometimes when a big event comes back for a second year, there's a collective yawn. Not often, of course; we're LA, so the people behind some of our big wingdings usually know how to get it going starting with year one.
But sometimes an event comes back for its second year, and there's a collective cheer, even a hearty "right on"; people still say "right on," right? Is that due for a comeback?
We're "right-on-ing" year two of the Los Angeles Fire Department match-up against the Derby Dolls in a broomo y broomo game of icy brawling. It's all to help out the LAFD Spark of Love toy drive, and to give the spectators on hand something to holler and whoop about.
If you're looking to a bit of hollering and whooping for our firefighters and world-famous derbyists, best be at Pershing Square at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 10. Show with a fun toy to donate, and then find a spot to watch the brawl, which will be distinctly lacking in "checking, blocking, or hitting" but not in high-spirited competitiveness.
It's a good one. Already looking to year three.
