LA's Oldest Watering Holes

Gridskipper casts a parched eye on LA's Oldest Watering Holes today, and we greedily devoured each pick, for a pair of reasons. One, Gridskipper gave a shout-out to the most excellent LA Time Machines, a gem-packed site we frequently reference and recommend. And two, nothing delights us more than sliding into a red, Naugahyde-y booth in the shadowy corner of some historic nitery and ordering a sidecar, so the subject matter was right up our alley. (Say, there's a list we'd like: Hidden Bars Located Off Alleys.)

Musso's is probably our favorite stand-by in the "Oldest Watering Hole" category, although a recent visit to Boardner's charmed us. The bartender was friendly with tourists and regulars alike. And isn't a relaxed, sit-back-and-sip atmosphere one of the delights of a place that's been around forever and a day?
