Pasadena's annual Merry Movie spotlights the Muppets. Oh, and it's free.

Pasadena's Merry Merry Movie

The Muppets are experiencing a bit of a renaissance, thanks to the release of "The Muppets," but many fans never left their felty sides.

Meaning? Those devoted Muppetees pull out "The Muppet Christmas Carol" each and every season. There are two tidbits to share at this juncture. One? The film, which is a Dickens retelling (the title is a bit of a spoiler), turns 20 next year. And two? Michael Caine stars as Scrooge. Kermit is Bob Cratchit. Chills.

But if it has been two decades since you saw the festive film on the big screen -- and if your young'uns have never seen it screened large -- a good opportunity is just ahead. Good and free, we'll add. The googly-eyed classic will screen on Saturday, Dec. 17 in Pasadena. It is, in fact, this year's "Merry, Merry Movie," The Playhouse District's annual spend-no-money gift to film-fanatical families in the area.

Holiday tunes, Santa, and treats are on the bill. C'mon. We're talking Muppets here. Of course there are sparkly extras.

It's also a morning deal, in case you have a party that night.

We think it is a grand way to introduce kids who are now suddenly in looove with Kermity and pals to an older gem. And that you can save on the admission front? That's something to wave your wobbly green arms in joy over.
