Man With Traumatic Brain Injury Found Safe

A non-verbal 48-year-old man with the mental capacity of a 5-year-old child who went missing Monday in Van Nuys, where he went to get an MRI, was found at a Costco parking lot in Van Nuys.

Los Angeles Police Department tweeted "Thanks to the media for airing the story, and an alert community member, the missing person has been located and is being reunited with family members. We've said it before and we will say it again - this is a team effort and tonight proved it."

Valadimir Povolotsky, who suffered a traumatic brain injury a week ago, was last seen about 4:15 p.m. in the 14900 block of Burbank Boulevard, near Kester Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Povolotsky was at University (Imaging) Center receiving an MRI when he left the facility to meet his father in the parking lot," according to an LAPD statement.

Povolotsky is white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs about 170 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. He did not have a cellphone or money when he went missing.
