Man Who Worked 3 Jobs Turns in $39M Lottery Ticket

A 49-year-old Santa Cruz man who worked three jobs to support his family has been identified as the person who bought a lottery ticket worth $39 million lottery.

A California Lottery spokeswoman said Clyde Persley turned in his winning SuperLotto Plus ticket on Tuesday night and should receive his first check for about $16 million in four to six weeks.

Persley, who is married with a 4-year-old daughter, operates candy-making machines for Santa Cruz Nurtritionals, drives a limousine and picks up extra hours at a local restaurant. He said his first moves will be taking his wife on a trip to Hawaii and hiring a financial adviser.

He bought his winning ticket at a Santa Cruz market where he has played the lottery twice a week for several years.
