This is the one and only time we'll advise you to look straight at Medusa *without* using your shield to catch her reflection.
Because the Medusa prop from the 1981 "Clash of the Titans" can't turn you to stone. It will delight and probably scare you, though.
As will all the Ray Harryhausen props currently on display at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Of course, the props have been on the pedestals there for a number of weeks now, but Friday, July 16 is a bit different.
We'll call it a very Harryhausen-esque evening at the Academy. The stop-motion master's works appear in both "20 Million Miles to Earth" and "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad," which make up the double-feature program at the Academy on July 16.
But making the night even Harryhausenier: The Academy will keep the "The Fantastical Worlds of Ray Harryhausen" exhibit open a bit later, so movie goers can see the stop-motion artifacts both before and after the films.
Including that famous Medusa. You may feel the urge to wear a loincloth and wield a sword as you stand before cinema's most celebrated gorgon, but your khakis and button-up will be do just fine.
