Mega Pet Adoption Fair

Hundreds of dogs and cats will be wagging/meowing at the tar pits.

We'd never be one to rank any pet adoption fair over any other pet adoption fair.

Because? If a fair should only have one animal that needs a home, it is important and worth supporting. We can also support those fairs where hundreds of dogs and cats show up to find potential people and a potential ride home to a new and loving life.

The Los Angeles Super Pet Adoption, from Best Friends Animal Society, has become known for gathering many, many beasties who need a fresh start. It's certainly one of the largest adoptions in the city, if not the state, as anyone who has seen it spread out around the La Brea Tar Pits can attest.

The next Super Adoption is up on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29. (The two-day-er should also clue you into its girth.) Loads of rescue and support organizations will be boothing it up around the Miracle Mile location, including Coastal German Shepherd Rescue, Lhasa Happy Homes Rescue, Kitty Bungalow, and Pet Orphans of Southern California.

We've also visited a senior pets booth in years past; it is an important stop for anyone who lives with a pet or who is there to adopt.

Tunes and food trucks and a convivial weekend atmos are part of the outdoor party, too. And loads of pick-me barks and meows, too, of course.

The fair is free, but come prepared to spend some time getting on the ground for cuddles. You'll also spend some time talking to a volunteer about what you'll need to do if you find the pet you want to leave with. Here's wishing you will.

Here's a peek back at a past adoption fair.
