Mom’s Night Theatre Deal

If you need a gift for your play-loving mom, read on.

However one likes to mix it up come Mother's Day -- and really, do any of us ever truly mix it up? -- we should -- it always feels like the hours between 11 a.m and 2 p.m. are especially packed.

Maybe there's brunch. Or lunch. Or church. A garden tour, or a special museum outing. And it can be difficult if you have a few mothers to pay tribute to during the day. Say your mom-in-law, or a good friend or aunt.

That's one reason we're liking the happening-May-9-only, $10 deal for "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo," which is currently playing at the Mark Taper. Because it happens well after the brunching hours have wrapped.

Of course, we also like it because this play, a moving wartime tale that is a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer, has gotten such excellent reviews.

A night at the theater for Mother's Day, for just ten bucks a ticket. Thanks, Center Stage people. Sweet. Oh, we should mention that the deal expires at midnight on Thursday, May 6. Quick now.
