Mondo Sale: Buy for the Kidlets (or for You)

For every kid we know who likes her Seuss or Lucy Maud Montgomery, there's an adult who collects vintage Babar or every edition of Eric Carle (we're fans of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" ourselves). That's because a good book is a good book, period.

And good books are plentiful, and nicely discounted, at the Hammer Museum right now. The huge kids-and-art-books sale kicked off at the Hammer on May 9, and it runs through June 7, and we can only say get there and stock up, especially if you have a few graduations ahead (we can think of at least a dozen kidly books that would be perfect for a graduate of any age).

The discount is 25 percent, which is quite generous. We remember buying ahead for the holidays at last year's sale, and when the holidays did eventually role around, we were unbearably proud about how smart we were to think ahead. And then we calmed down, wrapped our books, and vowed to return to next year's sale.
