Mood Music: LA Jazz Collective Fall Festival

The Los Angeles Jazz Collective brings the best jazz musicians around town together; the Fall Festival is a chance to see them them making smooth sounds. We couldn't think of a better time of year than right now. Autumn is a season made for a jazzy, contemplative soundtrack, and Thanksgiving week tends to be that time period when everyone turns it down a notch (thank goodness). Mellowing out for a moment is key, and doing so with a cocktail and a good seat close to the sax man of a great jazz act is pure pleasure.

The Jazz Collective has two melodious happening on Monday, November 24. First up is a performance at the Jazz Bakery in Culver City, which includes the full complement of drums, bass, piano and saxophone (tenor and alto). Later, the Collective plans a late-night hang-out at Seven Grand with Brian Swartz on trumpet.

Mad with stress? Crazed with prepping for relatives? Step away from the cell/computer/car and chill out to vibe-filled tunes for one ear-pleasing evening. Seriously.

Monday, November 24
Jazz Bakery, 3233 Helms Avenue, Los Angeles (7PM; $25)
Seven Grand, 515 W 7th Street, Los Angeles (10PM)
